Ok Southerns, did you know car batteries can freeze? Apparently if you don't start your car often enough, it's possible. The last time I drove myself anywhere was Sunday morning to the gym and back, and before that Thursday to the gym and back. I have been lucky enough to have snow driving friends to tote me around. Well last night Lexi invited me over for dinner, and so around 6pm I go out to start the car with David's automatic starter, and it starts to start, then stops. So I think, well ok fine, I'll manually start it. So I walk out to manually start it, and all the Chimp tells me is CLICK CLICK CLICK. Which in chimp language means "YOU'RE NOT LEAVING" So freaked out, let Lexi know, and she suggests it's either the battery or my gas freezing. Oh yea, apparently gas freezes too. So she drives all the way out here to help me. We put in the gas stuff, and that didn't work, so we knew it was the battery.
Enjoy this image for the moment. Two pregnant women, outside in the dark freezing cold, with our hoods up, and our dogs barking, holding onto the jumper cables trying to remember if the red went first, or the black.
So she calls her dad, but he wasn't available, so I call mine, and while he was trying to explain to me the black on black thing, our neighbor and her husband come out. Thank God. He sees us looking confused, took over, and got the car started. So I drove the car over to Lexi's, and 3 hours later drove home. If the car starts up fine today, then it was just the battery freezing. If I have any more troubles with it, it means David's car needs a new battery.
Oh in case you were wondering, I named David's car the Chimp. It is a CHevy IMPala. Yeah.... I'm cool like that. My car's name is Tori Taurus. She's a girl, and she is stubborn.
On the way home from Lexi's, I stopped by the mailbox and was delighted to see a letter from Grandma! Grandma's letters always excite me bc they usually mean a new recipe with coupons to match, an interesting article, and of course Grandma's thoughts. Normally the second I'm in the car, I open the letter to peak at the recipe, and then I read and reread the letter several times over the next week. Haha. And Grandma did not disappoint. So sometime this week, I will be making a trip to the store to try out my newest Grandma recipe. I also got a cookbook in the mail for healthy pregnancy meals. I have flagged a few pages to try out for those as well. I'm still working on my left over chili too, so I shouldn't need to cook until Friday as it is! These next few days I get to talk to David some before he is back with the fishies, so I am glad I am stocked on food to get to stay inside a while and just enjoy that time.
If you guys remember, the other night for dinner, I used my mixer for the first time and made blueberry crepes. They were absolutely amazing, but I knew with all the sugar and cream cheese, they were probably half the calories I should have eaten for the day. So this morning, I took the same recipe, and cut the calories down for the same delicious meal. I substituted cooking splenda for all the sugar, cut the cream cheese amount in half, and threw out the extra freshly made crepe to eat four instead of five. I also used blackberries this time too, just to try some different fruit. Here is the result.
Healthy Blackberry Crepes
They don't look as pretty, but they tasted just as amazing. So I am very happy with my lower calorie crepes, and will make it this way from now on. Gotta find ways to stay within my weight goal!!
you do crack me up hhahahaha.
