And the baby is a ......?

The baby is a brat.

Baby Moore held onto the umbilical cord between it's legs the entire time. I have to go back next week for a free 2d gender determination session. The doctor did get a halfsie shot, and a semi clear shot of the butt, where it looks like there is vagina lips. So it is a high possibility the baby is a girl. But she said she cannot give me a 100% sure answer as to the gender, and we will have to try again next Saturday at 11.

The baby does have unusually long legs, which it likes to keep crossed, and a big nose though. Pictures will come as soon as I load them into the computer.

My new recipe of the week & preparing to find out our baby gender!!

I am a little late once again in posting. I just get so busy that I don't get time to do it as much! This week I have also started to come down with a little head cold. But I'm not letting it get me down!

For this week's meal, I used my WIC veggies to try and be sure I got all the "proper" things to eat. It is hard to eat everything they say in a day because I feel like a balloon all day long. The newest recipe I tried is from a Rachel Ray cookbook. It is one of her master recipes, but I still found it fairly easy to follow. Now the original recipe was a Pumpkin Pasta with Mushroom and Sausage. However, Lexi hates mushrooms. So what we decided to do was take out the mushroom, and include spinach. A good healthy veggie for us. It doesn't look like much, but it ended up tasting fabulous! Afterwords Lexi made us some Strawberry Shortcakes. Yummmmm

I really just wanted to put up a quick post before I went to my doctor's appointment today. It's gender discovery time! Since week 7 of the pregnancy, I have been predicting a boy, so I am interested to see if this "motherly instinct" really works. My mom thought I was a boy though, so who knows. Maybe there really is a true mini me inside there tricking me. Well time to get ready! We leave at 9am, and the appointment is in Rhode Island at 11am. SOOOO excited! I can't wait to tell everyone about it. I will be sending out some dvd's of the sonogram to my family. But of course, I will post some pictures on here as well.

Here we go now!!!!!!!

18 weeks... and 1 day. Also WIC approved!

Oops, didn't get a chance to post yesterday. I was incredible busy the whole day. First I woke up and went to PSD to get a copy of David's pay stub printed out, then I went and woke up Lexi, and we went to my WIC appointment together, and set her up an appointment for next week. I got accepted to WIC finally! Yay! I was getting worried because I didn't think I was going to be able to get a job getting bigger and bigger. Not many people want to hire pregnant people. I know they can't discriminate, but let's be honest. We all know they will. As part of the WIC acceptance program, you go to their nutritionist and she talks with you about how your weight gain should look, and what you should be eating. She drew up a weight gain chart for me, and I am literally RIGHT on the line. This made me happy until she said I should expect to gain 25-35 pounds. I think my heart dropped right there. Haha. I also learned I am DEFINITELY not eating right at all.

I should be consuming each day: 3 servings of dairy [CHECK] 5 or more servings of vegetables [Um maybe in a full week?] 3 or more servings of fruit [Sometimes I get one in] 6 or more servings of grain [Whhhhaaaaaatt?? What is grain even in?] and 5-6 servings of protein foods [I'll take one giant hamburger please, skip the beans, eggs, and nuts]

How anyone eats this in one day seems impossible to me. I mean really, I want to meet the person who manages to get all this in every day. I feel like you would be eating all day long! But it is my goal this week to start doing this. So this morning, I got 1 serving of dairy, 2 servings of fruit, and two servings of grain. My meal consisted of a cup of oatmeal with 1/2 cup frozen berries in it, and a dash of milk, 1/2 cup OJ that I mixed the rest with diet sprite [Hey I'm trying to keep this low cal], and a little 2 oz slice of cheese. I feel stuffed and don't want to move.

So for the rest of the day I gotta squeeze in: 2 servings dairy, FIVE servings vegetables [seriously ppl this one is going to be the tough one], 1 serving of fruit [YAY apple. Got that one planned at least], 4 servings of grain, and 5-6 of protein foods.

After I post this, I am heading out to the gym to meet with my trainer. I think a more appropriate term would be roll out. I did take some quick pictures this morning, which explains why I was still in my pajama's. I had some massive weight gain this week. And I thought I was doing so good with the salt. However, I had some growth in the lower belly a lot too. This morning I weighed in at 167.2 pounds. Yikes. I measured around my belly button, and it is still 36 inches. My uterus is just under my belly button though, and that is where all the growth is, so I measured there and it is 37.5! That is nearly 4 inches from my before pregnancy waist! I wonder if I can stick to this new method of eating, if I will end up gaining more weight. There is no way I eat that much in a day, so it really makes me wonder how this "diet" would affect my body. Ok so on to picture time.

Technically its 18 weeks, and 1 day
When you push on it, it's hard. Weirdest thing ever.
Can you see my uterus? Haha
Other side
Yea Just another side to the belly

Ocean Beach in New London, and my Doctor's Appointment

Ok one final post for the day....

On Wednesday, I had my second doctor's appointment. Lexi decided to go with me, so we went and got some breakfast together, then we went and drove along Ocean Beach, where she showed me where her husband proposed to her. Here are some pictures from the view. They have a beautiful lighthouse in the background. Also, there is a ledge lighthouse in the middle of the water with some interesting history. Take the time to check out the link I provided for some history on it.

Just beautiful

Please take the time to GO HERE and find out more about this ledge lighthouse. Very cool!!

After our little tour, we went to my doctor's appointment. I heard the baby's heartbeat again, and it still makes me tear up. She took a minute to find the heartbeat because the baby was moving so much. I am still not feeling the movement yet, but I hope to any day now. She said my uterus is growing beautifully! Haha. I have gained a total of four pounds at 17 weeks pregnant. I am having massive cramping, so I know my belly is about to expand soon as well. Everything is good and normal, but she did say no more salt. Today will be Day 3 of the no saltness. Arg. My next doctors appointment is going to be February 24th.

NEXT SATURDAY WE FIND OUT OUR GENDER!!!

Yes, that is correct. Next Saturday, I will be having the 3d sonogram to determine the gender of the baby. I am going to a different place which is in Rhode Island to have it done. They are going to record it for me [which my doctor would not record it, nor allow me to record it], provide me with the 30 minute dvd, provide me with lots of pictures, give me some free stuff, and it will be 2d, 3d, and 4d! I will be copying and recording the dvd to send out to the family. However, I will not be announcing the gender until I email it to David, and he emails me back. So hopefully by the first week of February, I will be able to announce it!! I am so excited. I keep dreaming it is a boy, and I only want to look at boy things, and only can agree on a boy name. So my prediction is a boy, but we will see, because my mom predicted I was a boy!

Now I must finish off these multi posts and get ready for tonight. Tonight, the wives on the boat are having a fancy ladies night dinner. Lexi and I are riding together. I will get some pics of us and try to post them soon.

Monday Night's Dinner, & My Attempt at Planting

So every Monday I have been experimenting with making new meals. This past Monday I made a chicken cream puff type recipe my grandma sent me. I had a little trouble with it because I somehow made the mixture to creamy, and when I was trying to put it into the cream puffs, it was spilling out everywhere. The outcome was still delicious though. I added some cheese and broccoli, and some noodles to it. Lexi came over for dinner, and we watched a new show that now airs on Monday's, Life Unexpected. We both enjoyed the show, and I think we have found a new routine for us. This Monday, I plan on going to Lexi's house for dinner, and maybe Tuesday, I will try to make something new. I just got a new recipe book from Rachel Ray, and I have bookmarked several things that look interesting.

A close up. Very yummy!

When I was at Target the other night, I found these adorable little plants for a dollar. I bought a strawberry one, and a pink plant. I thought I would try to plant the strawberry first. Maybe by Valentine's Day I will have my own little made strawberry to dip in chocolate and eat. I planted it on the 19th. We shall see how this goes.

This windowsill gets lots of light, even though it's winter

My First experience at an Hibachi place

I have never eaten at an Hibachi Grill before, and on Friday January 15th, Lexi, Ashley, and I all went and ate at one called Koto, and then went and watched the movie Lovely Bones.

At the Hibachi Grill, they cook all your food in front of you on this big grill, and make funny noises, and throw shrimp at you, and squirt Saki into your mouth. I got the shrimp in my mouth on the first throw. It is kinda pricey because you get a ton of food, and you also get a show, but it is definitely a ton of fun!

If you go to an Hibachi grill in a small group, they will add you to another table. The three of us got added to a table of bunch of parents and their children for one of the kid's birthday. The little girl looked about 8 or 9. Now the three of us are all pregnant, and it was pretty funny when the rest of the table realized that was the reason we were not participating in the "Saki Squirting" They were all pretty drunk by this time, and the kids were hyped up and screaming, and we got tons of "Oooohh man, I bet you guys are all kicking yourself nows" and "Hahaha are you ready for this?" It was pretty funny, and I enjoyed it.

Afterwords we saw Lovely Bones. It was a tear jerker, and it was also very good. I loved the book, and the book actually had way more emotion into it. I didn't cry as much during the movie as when I read the book, but it was still highly enjoyable. All in all an excellent night!

David & Greece

So I have a lot of posts and pictures to put up. To make it less confusing, I am just going to split them all up into several posts...

Well now I can safely say where David was all last week. His boat was ported in Souda Bay Crete, Greece. The boat put him up in a hotel with some other guys, and he got about 4 ish days off during the week to spend at the hotel and in town in Greece. These pictures were taken from his hotel mate George LaMountain, which ironically is Lexi's husband. The boys didn't realize they were being paired together in the hotel room, it was all a funny coincidence. I say its just fate Lexi and I are friends!

David wasn't to fond of the rain they experienced the whole week, but he said the view was amazing, and the water was beautiful.

David is now under the sea again. He is going to be there for a long long time, so communication is going to be rare and delayed for a while. Just a heads up for everyone.

Here are some of the pictures I stole of Souda Bay Crete. I will have more when David returns that he took himself.

Awww Teddy misses Daddy

This is just a quickie post. I was doing laundry, and washed some of David's navy sweaters. Well I had them upstairs on the bed, and as I was about to take them downstairs to his closet, when a message on the computer distracted me. So I set the sweaters next to me on the floor, and got on the computer. Shortly after, Teddy came and decided to sleep on the sweaters. I think it means he misses Daddy. Now before you say, "Oh it's just because they are warm" That isn't it. The laundry was done a while ago, the sweaters were just sitting on the bed to be taken downstairs. He is currently completely asleep wrapped up in the sweaters, and I don't have the heart to wake him.

Teddy missing Daddy.
I miss him too little Bear.

Oh and for breakfast I made more crepes. This time with raspberry and blackberry. I didn't really like how the juices came out, and the berries still tasted sour. I will try again with raspberry and blueberry and see if I like that

Raspberry and Blackberry Cream Crepes

Well it is time to start preparing for Welcoming Monday Dinner. Happy 17 weeks baby belly!

17 weeks and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TEDDY!!!

It's welcoming Monday!! 17 weeks this week. I weighed in this morning at 164.4 and my waist measures at 36.5 inches. I know I said I would cut down on the salt, but I lied. Last night I began eating salty delicious pickle chips, and before I knew it, almost the whole can was gone. Even just discussing them now, my mouth waters. My favorite is still salt poured over lemons. Sometimes I pour it on apples too. I am currently snacking on olives. I am sure there is plenty of salt in those too. Is there any substitution for my favorite thing in the world?

Last week baby wise went ok. I am experiencing some heavy cramping in my lower left side, and soreness all along the bottom on my belly. I feel like baby is dancing on my ab muscles or something. I called the doctor this morning about it, and they assured me this is normal. Maybe not so much the one sidedness, but I have an appointment on Wednesday, so they will look more into it then. I have also had a sprout of exhaustion. I need to nap daily now, even though I think I get about 8 hours a night. I wasn't this tired during the first trimester, so I have no clue why I am now. On the plus side, I still haven't felt heartburn yet, which is awesome, bc I love heartburn prone dishes! I am pretty sure my poor friend Lexi is getting all the heart burn for both her and me. She may be tum's number 1 customer right now. I think I might write them and get her some coupons.

Tonight to welcome the Monday, Lexi is going to come over with Rocky, and we are going to make my grandma's newest recipe. So be sure to check out those pictures tomorrow. We are also going to watch that new show called Life Unexpected. Then Tuesday, Lexi [that beautiful Italian girl she is] is going to make dinner for me! We like to start our weeks out right :) She finds out her gender this Thursday, but she is keeping it a secret until her husband knows. I am going to try to do the same when I find out the 30th.... but we all know how big my mouth is.

Well here are the belly pics for the week. I am firm just on the lower bottom, not so much on the rest. lol. I expect to pop very quickly though with the way I have been cramping. I have been trying to lather up on the stretch mark lotion to prepare, but last night I still had an itchy tum tum. Maybe next week I will have a tiny balloon in there!

Little Fatty in the making

The side that hurts all the time. I suspect baby chills on this side the most

I pulled my pants lower so you can see where the stomach is starting to rise out of

I know, I know I need to cut out the salt. Gah.

As your baby is in the middle of an impressive growth spurt it should come as not surprise to hear that they've already added nearly another inch to their length and over an ounce and a half to their weight (they're around 5 ounces and 5 inches). You're definitely feeling the growth as your belly expands enough to make you feel a bit off balance now and again. Also watch out for that round ligament pain.

Fetal development in pregnancy week 17:fetus in fourth month Don't be too shocked but... your baby is EVEN bigger than it was last week, not to mention getting cuter, and smarter every day! As you’ve come to expect, there’s no shortage of growth and development this week: your fantastic little bean stalk has added yet another half inch to their overall height-- making them nearly half a foot long! Their little limbs have reached (or are within one week of) their relative proportions, and will continue to grow evenly with the rest of the body after this week. Reactive listening has begun for your baby, even though their ears are not yet structurally complete or fully functional. Meanwhile, different parts of their astonishingly complex brain are developing to process your little one’s hearing and other senses, (you know, sight, smell, taste and touch). Mind boggling factoid of the week: if you’re having going to have a little girl, her ovaries have already produced millions of primordial egg cells, which, within a few weeks, will develop into actual eggs! Phew… just wait till she’s a teenager eh?

And how's mom doing? Even though the second trimester is often characterized as the most enjoyable of the three, you can count on a few ailments (see week 14 for additional tri-2 symptoms). This week, or in the coming weeks, you may be privy to the uncommon joys of “round ligament pain.” These not-so-lovely symptoms can doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your bodyinclude bellyaches, pain in the lower abdomen and sharp shooting and/or stabbing pains, most often expressed at the end of the day. Your suffering is due to stretched ligaments and muscles that support your ever-growing uterus. This is to be expected and is perfectly normal (especially since your uterus is only getting bigger!). Some doctors advise sleeping on your left side as lying on your back can compress your pelvic veins, decreasing blood return to the lower half of your body. Lying on your left side relieves this pressure thereby allowing normal blood flow. If this doesn’t do the trick, go ahead and consult your health care practitioner, but try not to punch them when they serenely tell you it’s normal to feel stabbing pain during this time. As we all know, violence never solves anything.

Today also happens to be a very special day for my fur baby! Teddy turns 3 years old today. I sang him Happy Birthday, and gave him a nice giant bone. After making him beg for it so I could take these pictures :)

He sees I have the bone

He jumps once

He jumps twice

He barks at me angrily for teasing him on his birthday

Ok Teddy, you can have the bone

Awww Isn't he just the cutest? He thinks it's mouth watering good!

Oh and a special note to my mommy before I sign off: I really hope you are feeling better!!
